MAKING A SLIDING DOOR
The sliding door is very complex to beginners
but the more you do them the more they become amazingly simple. Don't give
up if it doesn't work out straight away.
Note: I work with the smallest grid setting
possible, remember that when looking at these screenshots.
So to start with let's make the door.

It's just a basic door for now but thats all
we need. (Type DR in the texture filter box if you want some doors)
Now let's turn it in to an entity by left-clicking
on the door to select it and then making it an entity (CTRL+T)
Then bring up the properties box and i'll go
through what each thing is.

Name- Give the door a name here and it can be
triggered by buttons and the like
Render Mode- You can make the door see-through
here if it is glass (see the glass tutorial)
FX Amount- Again this sets the transparency
of the door.

Speed- This is how fast the door opens, 100
is the default and fine for a door like this, but for huge metal doors a slow
speed can make the door look really authentic.
Move Sound- Choose a move sound here for your
door
Stop Sound- Choose a sound here for when the
door opens and stops.
Delay before close- About 5 - 6 seconds on cs
maps because if the CT's are bringing hostages through or they are rushing
in they don't want the door shutting on them.
Lip- This is how much the door sticks out of
the frame. If you zoom right in on a smallest grid size you will see tiny
grid spaces. Each of them is 1 unit. 5 of them would mean the door would stick
out that much. So you would put 5 in the LIP box. Putting a minus in front
will mean it will go into the frame by that much.

Locked Door- means that it will make a locked
sound when you walk into it. Be sure to give the door a name first.

Starts Open- The door will shut instead of opening
Toggle- If the door has a button then you can
toggle the door with this.
Use Only- This means you must press your use
key to open it.
THE ANGLE:

To make the door move along horizontally move
the angle around to what you want. Usually 90, 180, 270 or 0.
To make the door go up or down delete the 0
so that the angle turns to a dot and then choose up or down.

Compile the map and give it a go.
