Connecting Two Rooms
I had a post on the forum concerning this one.
To be honest I forgot all about it, please forgive me :P
So onwards we go:
Right there is more then one method to this
but this is easier and allows room for experimentation
Lot's of pics I'm afraid folks, sorry but
they are crucial to the tutorial
MAKE FLOOR LAYOUT FIRST
Ok this involves knowing where your level is
going first of all, as you need to layout the floor first.
Here is my planned two rooms:

As you may notice I have laid out the floor
blocks first. I cloned the first one I made and moved it some distance away.
Then I cloned it again and shrunk it down into the right shape to simulate
a corridor. You get it right?
Right we need some walls now, I will show how
to do one room and the corridor and you can do the rest.
So I have made a surrounding wall as far as
the corridor floor.

(Note: In the above picture I made the floor
PINK to show you clearly the layout, also the player start helps with scale judgment)
Right once we have done that we need to do the
same for the other room. Come back once you have done that.
Sooo.. a quick bit of cloning and we are set,
you have this right? Good

Now we will go through making the corridor
and
setting up trims to make it look nice and trim along the rooms, you'll see.
Ok, make some blocks to seal in the corridor:

Right now our corridor is taking shape. I used
a different texture to break it up.

As you can see it is quite ugly with it just
ending and then another texture. We will add some trims to make it look neat.
Choose the texture:
TNNL_FLR1A
Then apply it to the small wall like so:

This of course looks better, but still a little
odd would you agree? Well what I also did was clip the floor to make another
trim. Use SHIFT-X to get the clip tool and with the floor selected clip in
line with the wall trim. Press SHIFT-X again till both parts are showing.
Like the below:

NOW that looks better. Right now to make it
complete. Clone one of the walls in the room and move it up and make it a
tad smaller. Make this go all the way around like so:

Now it is taking shape! Also don't forget to
apply the trim to the underside of that wall. Now do that to the other room,
and then put a ceiling on both rooms and the corridor to complete the exercise.

Like this! Now all you have to do is light the
map and compile it for the test. Any leaks at this stage? Refer to the leaks
tutorial.

Well done, you can adapt this method to make
different shaped corridors, L-shapes, U-shapes etc. Have fun!
